Can’t America just focus on it’s own shitfest they call a government? Stay out of European traditions you know nothing about.

How about you educate yourself into our customs and traditions before you spew your dimwitted lack of knowledge around.
The majority of Dutch children DO NOT BELIEVE IN SANTA.
This might come as a shock to you Verene Sheperd but not everyone in the world shares the same holidays as you.
As far as i am aware in The Netherlands Sinterklaas is the holiday for children where a man comes with presents while Christmas is more of a (religious) family holiday..You know.. kinda as intended?
Zwarte piet has become to children more of a fairytale character That is cool, can do amazing gymnastics jumping from roof to roof and has it’s own character.
At pre-schools children get to do something called ”pieten school” where during gymnastics they get to walk over benches and things and at the end they get a ”pieten diploma”
Children love zwarte piet more then they love sinterklaas.
To them zwarte piet is the coolest thing ever and as i recall every kid wanted to BE zwarte piet.
Just like the smurfs every Black pete has it’s own character.
Smart,good with cooking,Kind,Grumpy, Musical etc.
I do agree that the character has racist backgrounds.
I don’t believe in the whole ”He’s black because of the soot!” nonsense because soot doesn’t make you grow an afro or get red lips.
So yes it has a racist background and maybe it’s not a bad idea to SLOWLY change those characteristics into something less offending to GROWN UPS (Because they are the ones making a big deal out of it here)
But to ban that one oh so very important character or even ban the holiday in an instant?
Are you even able to understand the effect that would have on an entire generation of young children? The questions it would give them at such a young age combined with the anger Dutch people will feel being robbed of such a nostalgic thing of their youth?
You don’t think children pick up on that feeling of resentment that would hang around?
Studies lately have shown that schools that focus on teaching anti-racism result in.. well.. racist children.
Because at an early age you’re teaching them that there indeed is enough of a difference to make a goddamn class about it.
For those unable to put yourself in the Dutch man’s shoes imagine if eventually santa claus became considered offensive because he is shown as :fat,male,uses reindeers to pull his sled,has small elves making the toys for him.
And someone from outside your country and culture demands it gets banned right away.
How would you feel?
How would you tell your child that this year santa can’t come because he was too fat, too male etc.
You don’t think that would leave a lasting effect?
Yes some things can and have to change but you don’t try and go ban a part of another countries culture regardless of if you understand it or not.
And America celebrates Halloween don’t they? Watch out.. it might be considered offensive to those who still truely celebrate samhain..
I’m terribly sorry to my followers for this rant but i had to let it out.
I do hope you can forgive me i won’t rant like this too often.
